It is very likely that you can. The rules are on this site from the Italian Consulate in Los Angeles (you would have to apply to the Embassy/Consulate responsible for your country or state, but the rules are the same): http://www.conslosangeles.esteri.it/Consolato_LosAngeles/Menu/I_Servizi/Per_i_cittadini/Cittadinanza/citizenshipbydescent.htm |

That depends on a lot of factors! The rules can get complicated. In your search you must look to get your citizenship through jus sanguinis
Other sources to help you sort out how you can claim your citizenship:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italian_citizenship
http://www.italiamerica.org/id72.htm
I'd also research the consulate where you live.
This last website I've included is a person who writes a blog about her experience getting her citizenship - it was not easy!!

Is Italian Nationality different than a citizenship? Because you most likely cannot get your citizenship. If your grandmother is still a citizen of Italy, your mother or father (whichever has the italian mother) born in America would have to have not renounced his or her right to citizenship for any reason. And you the same. Plus there are different laws for grandmothers because that's how laws about women were back then. |

yes, done. |

Hi
 |
that depends
Do you have any other Full-Italian relatives from the other side??
You will always GET a nationality, but it all depends on how much Italian you are. After all, full italian and one-eigth are two completely different things.
If your grandma is the only full italian in your family, you are one quarter Italian. You probably have Italian features, but you aren't completely Italian. |

probaly depends on a number of things, i think alot of countries work on the points system and having a relative thats from that country generaly gets so many points. But no i dont think so having dual citenzenship is very difficult and is discouraged by america. why do you want it.
but anyway yeah if you want italian citenzenship you can get it, italys population is shrinking and the country suffers from people leaving it. it is the easiest european country to get in to. |
