I am a Canadian and I have been living in Torino for one year. Here are some highlights:

The Egyptian Museum is second in the world only after Cairo, and it has everything from preserved bread to real mummies (with hair and fingernails and everything!)

The Mole Antonelliana is the symbol of Turin and it appears on the one-cent euro coin. It was originally designed to be a synagogue but the Jewish community renounced its support for the project when the architects and engineers schemed to build something much bigger and grander than the original plans entailed. Today it is home to the National Cinema Museum.

Porta Palazzo is Europe's largest outdoor market and the center of the immigrant community in Torino. Here it is possible to buy everything from shoes to bread to books, and around people are speaking every language under the sun. Palafuksas is a large green-glass and steel building built to house the clothing section of the market as well as modern art exhibits, and it is receiving international attention for its architectural style.

in Turin you should see Piazza Castello. The name of the plaza comes from the castle of the kings of Italy who were originally from Torino. Torino was also the first capital of Italy and the castle, apart from beeing the residence of the king, was also the first national parliament. Apart from that, for the duration of the Olimpic Games, piazza Castello is called MEDALS' PLAZA because every evening there are the ceremonies for the Olimpic Games.
