Three cities- Positano, Rome, Milan
Positano is probably the most beautiful place you'll ever go to. The places to eat there are fantastic. Caffe Positano was good, with a great view. I thought Chez Black was good also. Il Tartagliata had great food and service.
You just have to go to Rome because of all the history and the art. There you would go to the Coloseum, Castel Sant'Angelo,Centrale Montemartini (sculptures), Acquario Romano, Capitoline Museums, The Scala Santa, The Pantheon, Teatro di Marcello, just goes on and on. Then within Rome there is The Vatican. There you will see the Sistine Chapel and St. Peters Basilica.
Milan is the fashion capital of the world and I'm sure your fiance would like shopping there. It is an expensive city but worth going there. La Scala is like the most famous opera house in the world. Milan is like the Paris of Italy.
I traveled the Italian Riviera and northern Italy. Along the Riviera you'll also find Pisa, Pompeii, and Naples. But I wouldnt suggest going to Naples. |

Gotta go to:
Roma -- Trevi Fountain....If you throw in a coin you are destined to come back...I've done this four times and keep coming back.
Florence -- Has alot of art and probably the greatest food you'll have in all of Italy in this area.
Venice -- Obviously a very Romantic place, but kinda expensive, you can do this place in two days..... |

Venice - the island of Burano and St Marks Square (Venice is great place to go wandering and get a little lost)
Rome - just to really get a feel of the history and culture (and shopping) :P
If you want to go off the beaten track a little go visit a town by the name of Udine in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region in Italy's north east. It has the most amazing vibe and is a great place to relax but still have a lot of fun - the Irish pub is fantastic. |
