It's the Vesuvius, "Vesuvio" in Italian.

Mount Vesuvius was the volcano it covered pompeii and herculuem. The people back then did not know it was a volcano they just thought the Gods where mad and they believed it was punishment for something they did.

That volcano is Vesuvius and it also destroyed Herculaneum as well as Pompeii.

the volcano is the vesuvius (vesuvio in italian). there are many stories about it, the most famous was written by plinius who was a latin literate and eyewitness.
