Ok, I'd like to go to Italy this year but...?

I have been told that the euro is not good for the American Dollar...what in the heck does that mean? Is it worth it to go or what? What do I look for in the financial markets, etc. Please let me know...

There is an exchange rate between the euro and the dollar. A lot of times there's been approximate parity where $1 = 1 euro. So if a bottle of water costs 1 euro, it costs 1 dollar. If it's a favorable rate like $1 = 1.5 euros then that same bottle of water will only cost you $0.75. However, right now $1 = 0.76 euros. That bottle of water that costs 1 euro now costs you $1.32. That is what is meant by that.

I put this string into a search engine:

1 euro = $

And it returns the current exchange rate.

I don't let the price of the euro affect my travel plans. It hurts a little bit to pay 30% more than I have in the past but I work a little harder to find better deals and have more adventures roughing it in 2 star hotels.

ok dont listen to this guy about exchanging at the airport, bring a credit card with you and use it most places, if not take your debit card because u will need some euro bills and take it from an atm (bancomat). Airports and any exchange stations give you terrible "exchange rates" Exchange rates are the amount that the dollar is compared to the euro and vice versa. So right now i think it is 1 EUR for every $1.3079 so say you spent 100Euros you would actually be spending $130.79.

But it is definatly worth going!
