Absolutely stay in Florence all 5 days. Pisa is a nice little place but not much to occupy your time for long. You can easily get there by train from Florence and do it as a day trip.

Also, you'll want to reserve a ticket to climb the Leaning Tower, reopened a few years ago after about a decade of shoring up the tower so it doesn't topple over. In Florence, there is so much to do and see but it can be very crowded with tourists. Book to get into the busiest museums -- specifically the Galleria dell'Accademia where Michelangelo's David statue is and The Uffizi, the most important Renaissance gallery in the world -- by calling 011.39.055.294.883 (this number works from the U.S.) I'd get up early and stay out late to be able to walk to the streets of Florence in relative peace and really appreciate what a beautiful city it is.

Florence has great train and bus connections to the rest of Tuscany, so it makes a great hopping off point. By train you can easily get to Lucca, Arezzo, Cortona and even the CinqueTerre on the coast and by bus to Siena and San Gimignano.

Pisa and Firenze are not far apart... you could stay (cheapo) halfway and please yourself which city day-by-day, thus latch on to unexpected topical localised events. Apart from that, you can "do" Pisa in a day whereas Firenze will take you at least a month esp if you're interested in art history. Buon viaggia!.

Given that choice, definitely 3 days in Florence and 2 in Pisa. I truly believe that whatever you do, you will wish you had spent more time in Florence and less in Pisa.

Spend more time in Florence - there's just more to do. And it's only about one hour by train, so you can always hop back and forth.

I'd squeeze a day trip in to Siena if possible. It's also close by, is absolutely beautiful, has great shopping, and some interesting museums.

3 days in Florence will give you time to visit many of the sites and it does have a lot to offer. 2 days in Pisa might be to many. Have a look at the Tourist Info sites to plan your trip.

5 days in Firenze and take a day trip to Pisa. It is what I have done... seriously... Pisa is really just about the leaning tower of Pisa and you can check out the University if you so choose to. But it is a beautiful town too:) I actually visited what I believe was a Ford dealership right outside the grounds where the tower is located. That was fun! LOL

Florence is my favorite city! ;-) Either way... you will enjoy Tuscany... it is beautiful. ;-) Have a great trip!

I don't have to think to answer. I'm sure that Florence is more interesting than Pisa. You should stay just one day in Pisa because there is only an interesting thing: Piazza dei Miracoli. Florence has a lot of thing to see... you should think to visit other cities such as Siena. I think it is wonderful.

You can see all of pisa in half a day. Stay in Florence and take day trips via the train. I did that last year....Spent 6 days in Florence and then took day trips to Pisa, Rome and Venice. Florence was a great base.

I don't think that there is enough to do in Pisa for 2 days. You may want to consider just taking a day trip out there.

The answer must always be subjective.

Florence probably has more to discover on foot.
Pisa is good too.
Indeed the whole of Tuscany is excellent.

I'd stay for 5 weeks if I were you!!

I suggest you to stay five days in Florence and make a one-day excursion to Pisa.

I lived in Italy for 3 years 5 days in 2 more than needed, 1 in pisa, 2 in florence and choose somewhere else for the last 2.

Pisa is a little smaller than Florence so i would do 2 in Pisa & 3 in florence. they both have beautiful things to see. the arcitecture any where in italy is gorious you realy cant go wrong. there is nice museum in pisa, accross from the leaning tower.

You can do Pisa in a day trip as its near to Florence.....if you want somewhere better than Pisa maybe look at Lucca...again not far and is like a mini-florence.
Florence is lovely and there is so much more to see than whats at Pisa.

I have to admit I've never actually been to both, but I spent 2 weeks in Tuscany, and visited Florence many times during my stay. It has to be one of the most beautiful cities I've ever layed eyes on, And would love to go back some day.
