Im going to Rome in a few weeks and i was wondering if anybody had any suggestions on what to visit. Obviously there are things like the Colosseum and stuff, but im looking for places that most people haven't heard of and stuff like that. Also, i am looking for nightlife and places to eat and really cool streets / stores/ markets to shop at... but nothing too expensive, after all, i am in college :)

I found some good restaurant ideas at http://www.bombasticlife.com

I love to just walk and walk when I am in Rome, I try to get away from the touristy areas.

Manzetti ?
Just to list a few, the Roman forum, the collessum, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish steps.
The best thing about Rome is that its quite small as far as modern cities goes. Saying that, there would have to be more things to see there per square foot than anywhere else on Earth! I've been there 2 times so far and I still haven't seen everything.
Have a great time!! Rome is one of the most amazing cities in the world.

I visited all of the regular sites, but I fell in love with the Borghese Gardens. Beautiful, relaxing, interesting, and free.

My (relatively) unheard treasure is the museum at the Villa Borghese. You need to make reservations in advance and it is exquisite. Ostia Antica is like Pompeii but close to Rome. On my last visit, I went to musical dinner at a restaurant called Tanagra. It's in the north end of town like the Villa Borghese.
