Planning a trip to Rome?

What is the best time of year to visit Rome?

Coming from US, Ca.

Financially, I'm dumb. Can we use our credit cards there? Visa, Mastercard? What do we need to do to spend money there?

Personally- I like mid October to early November. I've been to Italy 4 times in that particular timeframe and have had good weather and decent temps. Prices tend to be a little less as this is not considered the high season.

You may definitely use credit cards in Italy, however, I tend to use the ATMs (bancomats) and make as few withdrawals as possible. US banks are really doing everything they can to make money off of your transactions- every time you use your credit card/debit card the bank adds on a hefty service charge (for changing the currency I think). I always change some cash before I travel and use the bancomats as infrequently as possible.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions- my last trip to Rome was just this past August.

I'm going to Rome in October for the first time. I asked a travel agent for the cheapest time to go. October/November seemed to be the best time to go. We searched alot of different hotels to find a good, inexpensive one. But one that I wouldnt feel like we were poor! I do know that you can use credit cards just like here. I'm Canadian, but the US is pretty much the same as Canada.

NOT ANY PROBLEMS WITH CREDIT CARDS IN ROME, YOU CAN PAY ANYTHING WITH IT. VISA AND MASTERCARD ARE VERY POPULAR. AND EVERYWHERE YOU WILL FIND A BANK AUTO MAT HAVE A NICE TRIP TO ONE OF MOST BEAUTIFUL CITY'S IN THE WORLD. ONLY TAKE CARE YOUR BAG OR POCKETS IN FULLY PLACES, LIKE FONTANA DI TREVI........ GREETINGS FROM ISCHIA (NAPOLES)
