Well... Italy and Italian people are amazing. If you have never been there, you have to go. The people of Italy are extremelly passionate. They communicate freely and they live with love. Some of my best friends are from Italy. The culture there is based upon family and traditions. The country has a foundation upon the ancient ruins of one of the greatest civilizations, the romans. What's not to love? |

Italy is a very beautiful country, but there are a few things you should be aware of if you plan on visiting. The architecture is awesome. Some of the public washrooms are filthy - depends where - I mean....haven't been washed in months - some have no toilet seats even. You have to pay to use a public restroom. If you are buying souveniers, try to stay out of the tourist areas - very expensive. Depending on the area, bottled water can cost as much as a bottle of wine. AND - watch for gypsies - they live in caravans on the outskirts of many cities, especially where tourists are. I almost had my passport stolen by them. They will teach their children to steal from tourists - they work in packs - this is what happened to me. I was in a pizzaria, standing at the counter waiting to order. A kid tapped on my left arm...began jibbering in Italian...meanwhile another kid on my right had his hand already in my purse removing my passport - where was mom & dad? Waiting outside for their kids! Any tourist guide in Italy will warn you of gypsies - be very careful of them. Good luck, have a nice, safe trip! |
