Ok, so I am going to be an exchange student in Italy this year and I'm having trouble thinking of gifts to get for my 2 host sisters that are 18.. When you think of American, what kind of gift would you want?
Also, I'm from California and live in Texas so what do you think of when you think of those 2 states?

I am an American girl, living in Italy. So my advice might not be as good as the other girls...
However, I found that my friends here love it when I bring stuff from Bath & Body Works and particularly Victoria's Secret. They love the lotions and make up and stuff and would love any of the PINK brand stuff at Victoria's Secret. If you don't want to bring panties and bras to someone you just met you could bring some of the beach cover-up or casual outfits they have.
Food wise everyone has loved it when I bring maple syrup (bring some pancake mix as well and make them a big pancake breakfast- they will love it) and bar-be-que sauce. My friends haven't really liked peanut butter but were interested in trying it. Also brownie mix is a good one, they always ask me about pancakes and brownies! |

nice cloths, USA brand. Something you cannot find in Italy.
Gap or..I don' t know....I remeber someone brought me a bag from Marcy ( does it exists?) from AMerica and i was so happy.
t- shirts or bags or flip flop....we like everything from the big continent!!! :D

I think that a t-shirt can be a good idea.
I would be very happy if I recieved someting american typical food, dor instance peanut butter!
It's so good, but in Italy it is not so well known.
So all the family will be happy :-) |

I think a book with a lot of pictures about the places you are from would be a good idea... I'd like it... It's a way to make them know something about you...
T-shirts is another good idea, but it's difficult to buy the right size...
Maybe a hat... or something to eat...
Anyway, everything will be appreciate... don't spend too much time thinking about it...
And... have a good time in Italy!!! (my best friend did the same at high school, she's Italian and spent one year in Maine... she always tells me she enjoed that time so much...)

take something typical from USA which can be food or souvenirs... actually we like California very much a little less Texas as we do not like George Bush... real a s s hole...be prepared not to show that you like him if you like him... italians can not wait to see Obama as a President .. another thing don't ever mention that you are pro death penalty ... italians could get very upset to hear this...
apart from this, I am sure they will love to have you as a host.. CIAO ! |
