Question to all italians?

I love Italy, but I was wondering, would you marry someone's who's not italian? say Moroccan for example? Or French or any other country.

Does religion matter to you a lot? at the point you wouldn't marry someone who's not the same religion as you?

Thanks a lot!

If they spoke many languages, including Italian, and were smart and respected your culture, would you?

Hi, first of all, your question seems to me quite confused, first you mention the nationality of people then their religion...

Anyway, I think that there are several different cases, but, PLEASE don't think that what I'm going to say can be valid for all the Italians, I'm only writing my opinion which is a result of my personal experiences and other...

The argument may be quite complex ...

In a lot of Italians' opinion, not all the foreign people are equal when they could become their future son/daughter in law, I know that it sounds very racist, but in my opinion this is the reality especially among older and middle-aged people but even among many youngers...
For example, a Moroccan fiancee is not equal to an English or a Spanish, generally the African people are not well-seen, If I had to do a list, I'd say that an acceptable fiancee could be from Western-Europe, Northern-America, Australia and New Zealand that are all the people more similar to us... Instead for Africans, Asians, Arabs, Southern-Americans and Eastern-Europeans the acceptation could be harder...
The reasons of this kind of racism are quite complicated to explain, maybe they are the result of centuries and centuries of xenophobia which characterized ALL the Western-World but it could be also the result of the fear of a lot of people for foreign cultures and for everything that is unknown...

What you say about the religion, in my opinion is true especially for Muslims, they are seen as "barbaric" people with no respect for women, so many parents fear that their daughter could be bad-treated by a Muslim husband... Moreover we should also consider the level of religiousness of every single family...

So finally, we can say that, the most accepted are all the people with a close culture to the Italian one, but even the people who KNOW our culture ...

However I think that even if at first parents could have some problems to accept a foreign person, at the end, their love for their son/daughter will go beyond everything, after all, their most important aim is the heppiness of their sons/daughters ...

Bye^^

italian man and women use to marry foreigners... and it's very strange what you told, because most of the time this kind of thing happens when it's an italian woman who wants to marry a foreigner. I mean that when the foreigner is the woman usually there's no problem for the families... but like everywhere this kind of stupp can happen here in Italy too...

I'am italian girl.
For the law all the italian can marry the foreign also the foreign is the other religion.
Also italian women the musulman but when the women are the sons or the daughters the men tear the sons to his mother and return to them country.
In Italy is born an associaton that follow this situazion.
I personally marry the european or the american but I d'ont marry never the africans, Asiatics or musulmans.
