Let's say that Italy has to be divided into North and South. Especially, there are towns like Turin and Milan where the law is more respected, while in the South its easier turning laws around.
Our drinking age is 18, as our age to be allowed to get to clubs is 18. Actually, unfortunately, there are children of 12 years old drunk in clubs in the afternoon, and 14 years old children drunk in the evening, sometimes.
Smoking is forbidden if you are less than 16, but guys start smoking when they are 12-13 and they havent any problem buying cigarettes. Of course we have Yahoo Msn Skype and whatever you have, as u can see :)
We can drive a 50moto when we are 14 and we have to get a license, and we can drive some kind of cars when we are 18 and some other cars when we are 21.
I dont know what else can be of help. We begin school when we are 3 and we end it when we are 19. Then we go to universities that last 3 or 5 years. We just havent some shops that are really requested, as Abercrombie Hollister and Aeropostale (redicolous...requested just because there arent, since here there are many other shops that sell the same kind of things)
Ask me whatever else u want... Bye :)

I'm italian...
well, i think for all your questions there is just one answer.. 18!
ehehe... ja, to drink strong alchool we have to be 18.. 16 for beer exc exc...
of course we have msn-yahoo aim.. we even have yahoo.answer! =p
you can get your driving licence when you're 18.. two exams, one theorical and one of practise... the first one consist in 30 questions true or false, and just after you pass it you can take some driving lessons---
about alchool-smocking age. well, remember that we are in italy, and one of the bad thing here is that nobody really respect rules.. so, you see 14-15 y.o. guy drunk at saturday night )and yes, that's really sad) and you even see some youth people of the middle school (11-14 y.o.) smocking...
yeah., we can consider the 18y.o. as yours 16 y.o. ..
ehehe, ciao

I lived in Italy for a while many years ago, and have been back several times...last time was October of 2006. Drinking and smoking age is 16. Yes, the internet is everywhere, except maybe very small or remote towns. Driving age is 16, I believe, although to rent a car, you probably have to be 25 or older. Being drunk in public is not tolerated, so don't plan to party hearty and be out on the town! A good travel guide is "Let's Go!" Italy...used the same one for years and years...it's meant to be a college student type guide (i.e., how to do things cheap), but it recommends great local hangouts and restaurants that are not touristy and a really good deal, and give you a better idea of the culture. Be respectful, and say please (per favore) and thank you (grazie) in Italian.
