I just came back from Italy 8 days ago on a tour. The people in Italy are very welcoming and there is a wide variety of cultural groups throughout the country. I have Italian roots and my family has never discriminated or judged someone by the way they look. Italy is an amazing country and is yours for the taking. Take this opportunity and enjoy it. There is no need to worry about things like this. |

i have to say this: in US you have a huge discrimination between whites and blacks, something that in Italy it's really rare, just some **ckheads wants to be racist or whatever, but normally we don't have it. We getting along with people who treat us good, no matter the color of the skin.
Now i live in MD, sometimes i have the feeling that someone dislikes me because i'm white, but i'm down to earth, i really would like to tell all of these people that i don't have the mentality of all the racist US craps and issues. Not everybody is the same, but it's clear that the issue here in US is much more evident... |

I'm Italian and I don't care about the color of the skin, and in general it's like that in every part of Italy, but everyone thinks in different ways... However don't worry, you'll stay very well here (are you coming here???)... :)
sorry for my english! |

It depends on the Italian. Some won't like you because they are racist, but unfortunately there are racists in every country of the world. Most probably won't think anything because they don't know you. There are a lot of African immigrants here, so Italians are used to seeing Africans. You won't be considered a novelty or anything like that. Most Italians will treat you kindly and with respect if they see you are a good and decent person and are in Italy to work and live an honest life.
I live in Italy. Ciao and enjoy Italia. |
