Train its the bast solution as coach travel in Italy can be expensive with very little value for money. anyway by train it takes about 4 hours unfortanetly and the price range its about 25 euros return. Whatever you do please don't forget to stamp the tickets in the yellow machins in the train station as you would have to pay a penalty when your ticket ist cheked. you can find all the info at http://www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html
don't know about the moped the old law was no licence was needed for 50cc as long as you were 18 i think now you need a patentino(small licence) something you would have to do in the uk too i'm not sure about provisional |

Think twice about getting a moped. I have driven motorcycles for 20 years, and I got talked out of it. I have decided not to reserve a motorbike until I get there and see how bad it is. Apparently, in Rome, stoplights and stopsigns are optional. Scooters that are in the same lane as the cars are honked at, because they are supposed to be whizzing in between the cars. Scooters just drive anywhere and the traffic is pandemonium. |

hi,I'm from Itlay.
I think you should take the train because by car (I guess) it would take more than 3 hours, maybe 4.
About the license for the moped i'm sorry but I have no idea :-(
Oldwhite: I have to say that you're right...traffic's situation especially in city like Rome and Napoli is very caotic |

You can get a bus from Roma Tiburtina to Pescara which may be more comfortable then the train. The train however is a lot easier to buy tickets for. If you are in Rome then it may be wise for you to go to the Tiburtina bus station and enquire there as well as asking at the train station.
I prefer to travel on coaches then the train when I am going long distance as the buses are clean, relaxed and on some you even get offered a drink and can watch a dvd. |
