May is the month of roses in Italy, with weather that is warm but not too hot for sightseeing. The major sights are crowded - not only with visitors from abroad but also with Italian schoolchildren, as schools often organize trips at this time of year.

Sunny and warm during the day, fresh in the night, not too many tourists, great choice!
Enjoy!

Depends on what you mean by 'warm enough'. I was there a few years ago in late May, it was about 25 C, and that was nice and warm.

romeoitaly
Absolutely!
May could perhaps be the nicest month of the year in Rome, it has the most agreeable temperature and little rain to speak of.
Plus it's an exciting time as you can appreciate the energy and enthusiasm for Summer.
It's a great time.

Yes, it is usually warm in May (but sometime there are some cold days).

And rain is frequent.

federica
Yes! Don't worry! Come here and spend a lot ;-)

It will be perfect weather for traveling and sightseeing. If you're traveling in the northern part of Italy & are hoping to get some beach time in, the waters may be a little chilly still, but the air temps will be warm. I traveled to Italy from mid to end of May 3 years ago and the weather was awesome!

May to early June is a great time to be here. You're ahead of the peak for tourists and the weather is warm without being excessively hot. July and August in Rome are often very hot and humid.

It should be nice and sunny. A friend went there recently and had her bag stolen. She was sitting on a bench enjoying the sun and some guy came up to them, trying to ask what language they spoke. She was trying spanish, english, german etc, and then he ran away! He must have had an accomplice, who snatched her bag, as she was talking to him, so be careful!
