Route from Marco Polo Airport Venice to Lido? |
I'm going there soon, arriving at about 10.00pm with a heavy suitcase and a tired girlfriend! What's the best way to get to Lido? Never been there before and don't speak any Italian.
Which ferry? Do they run late in evening? Direct, or have to change somewhere? Length of journey? Getting tickets?
Please give me an idiot's guide! Additional Details Actual destination is the Hotel Rivamare on Lungomare G Marconi
Lido di Venezia. |

there is the Alilaguana public water launch makes the trip (50 mins) to San Marco, The Lido and Zattere. The ticket office is close to the arrivals terminal exit; the dock is immediately outside. |

Also make sure you are definitely going to the Lido and not lido di Jesolo (not too far away) They are different places. |

Take the bus to the bus plaza in Venice, then take the vaporetto that goes to the Lido. You can buy tickets at the pier, but I don't know how late they run. Water taxis are very expensive. |

From Marco Polo to Lido - Take the orange bus (Euro 2.00 per person) from outside of the arrivals. Look up to see the electronic boards for your destination. You will be going to Venice, Piazzale Roma - the last stop, Venice's bus terminal.
Take a vaporetto from Piazzale Roma (aka P.le Roma and P. Roma) to the Lido.
I've given you the English language web site for the water transportation in the lagoon. The cost is Euro 6.00 per person. If you are staying for several days you must consider getting a several day pass for the vaporetto.... you save money and have more to spend on your wine.

Hi
I think you can get the 'alilaguna' ferry direct from the airport to lido - there should be signs at the airport directing you to where to get tickets and is fairly straight forward even if you can't speak italian! I think they should run in the evenings, and i think it takes about an hour.
They have a web page that should have all the details on, maybe even able to book online?! it's www.alilaguna.it
(the web page in in English!)
I hope you have a great time - Venice is gorgeous but lido is lovely too - and they are very different from each other so makes for an interesting comparison! Make sure you eat lots of ice cream! |
