Sardinia, Alghero - taxi or Bus? |
What is the best way to get to the main strip in Alghero from Alghero airport? I have Googled this but not found that much info on which is best. The Hotel I am going to is the Hotel florida. Any help appreciated. |

The airport is about 12 km form the centre of town. The airport information desk states that the quickest way to reach town is by taxi (it should cost about 20 euros for the trip). The bus service is far cheaper (1 euro) and takes you to Via Cagliari but the bus only runs twice a day (9:08 and 19:38). I'd go by Taxi if I were you! |

The bus service is ok if you are prepared to hang about and then rattled about on the bus, which lets face it you hardly want to do at the airport. I've done the trip over a dozen times and will always take the taxi. Its a lovely swift ride into town, especially in the heat of summer with the window down and the scent of pine trees wafting in. The drivers are pretty good too. If you try to speak a little Italian with them it goes down very well. If you can utter a word or two of Sard, they will fall off their seats. |
