Yes, you can! it's a canal sistem, so you can't be sick, you're not in open water...canals are very calm, you can enjoy them!
bye^^

edit: to go to murano and other island you don't t travel on the sea, it's a lagoon, and it's very calm, I really don't think you'll be sick..

Yes, take some Dramamine with you.

sea sickness occurs usally from the rocking of the waves that makes the person feel sicks but because its a canal system i wouldlnt see why somebody who gets see sickness couldnt enjoy venice

I just got back from my first trip to Venice--and I usually get seasick at the first rise of a boat. Had no problems though. The vaparetto boats do roll a bit, especially if you take one all the way around the island or to Murano, but its a short enough trip that my usual illness didn't hit me. You can always just stay off the boats and walk through the city instead--that's the real way to see it anyway -- easy to get lost in the crazy winding streets, but go with the flow and keep walking -- its so amazing, you'll love it.

Venice may be based on a canal system but if you wish to go to Murano or any of the other islands on the lido you will travel over the sea. I get motion sickness and took the relevent pills. I would take them even if you're just going on the canals as the Grand canal is very wide and so you can bounce about a bit.

Hope this helps.

From someone who has actually been to Venice!!
