Seasons in Italy vs. United States?

I hope this doesn't sound like a dumb question, but are the seasons in Italy the same as here? I mean, when it's summer here, is it summer there, and if not, what season would it be? My fiance and I are planning to go, and I want to make sure we go at the right time of year weather-wise.

Since both countries are in the Northern Hemisphere they share the same seasons. So, when it's summer in the States it will be summer there. Summer, particularly August, can be quite hot in some parts of Italy, so be prepared for that. And August is also the busiest time, as most of Europe seems to go on holiday then.

The seasons in Italy are the same as here- i.e. they happen at the same time. For the most part, they are similar in weather, but, I've found the summers are often hotter there than here, and the winters typically aren't quite as cold. They don't usually get as much snow as we do here in the Northeast.
