I'm traveling to Italy with five other friends next week and we wanted to spend a day in the Vatican. Should we purchase tickets in advance?

I went in January and it was the only museum we had to wait to get into(only 10-15 minutes though, but that was January and I heard it gets crazy) So yes buy advanced tickets, you are going to love it.

If you can you definitely should. Even with tickets in advance the lines are incredibly long! This is one of the hardest museums to get into in the world; but fantastic.

The museum is open to tour groups (who have included tickets) an hour early. If you're not in a group, I suggest going there an hour before it opens and get in line asap. It wouldn't matter if you buy tickets in advance...I'm pretty sure they sell them right as you go inside. Happy traveling : ) Italy is one of the best and most beautiful places I've ever been to.
