Should people who eat cheseburgers at McDonalds be banned from visiting Italy? |
Italians restaurants are probably some of the best in the world. Why would anybody want to visit Italy, and eat a chese burger at McDonalds ??? Additional Details Whats a nugget ?
In my experience Mcdonalds in Italy are few and far between, located in the tourist areas of the large cities. They are mainly frequented by tourists not Italians. Not only does Italy have some excellent restaurants, but many fine cafeterias and snack bars, which serve a wide selection of sandwiches, salads and local dishes, which are much cheaper than a burger and fries from McDonalds. I have enjoyed many visits to Italy, spoilt by a loud mouthed F*** and S*** who are always complaining. |

Familiarity? Though I do think that's kind of sad. A lot of tourists go around the world, and cheapen their experience by eating at a place like McDonald's, especially in a country that is so damn proud of their food like Italy.
But sometimes, there's a need for it for foreigners. If you're not Italian, McDonald's is comfort food. Sometimes people don't feel like having a meal cooked in marsala wine and capers, and what have you. Sometimes a simple burger is what a person wants. People can get homesick. |

some people - traveling and visiting country but not to enjoy the local foods (which is too bad - Local Food is always the intersting part of the trip).
I think eating burger at McDonalds instead of enjoy the local yummie delicious foods its a part of :
- in hurry
- easy
- cheap
- no other choice in mind

I kind of see your point.
I get confused when I see people go on holiday to another country, then spend the whole time hiding themselves away from the local culture (never leaving the hotel complex, eating the same food they would at home, etc). Why bother?
Oh well, each to their own I guess. They're the ones missing out. |

You are right, people who come to Italy and then eat at McDonalds should be sent back home. |

I think because it's chaper than a restaurant.
However many tourist don't know that a take-away (real wood cooked) pizza margherita cost less than a McMenu!
for Teresa: in Italy we have many different food, not only pasta and pizza! |

not everyone can afford to eat in Italian restaurants all the time. |

I am Italian and I love cheese burgers.
we don't have many McDonalds here in Rome mainly because we've got our own fast food places where you can buy Pizza, pasta, chicken, ready meals and so on. privatly owned and sometimes family run.
Italian kids like to go to McDonalds they don't have a prejudice about it, but it's seen sort of an Exotic place, maybe not the first choice if possible. well at least 15 years ago when I was a kid ! haha |

Should Italians who eats at McDonald's be banned from their country? I am Italian I live in London and I know a lot's of Italian who are crazy for Mc in Italy and in London. I eat Mc twice in a month... |

Its a matter of choice. My choice would be that McDonalds should be banned full stop but I make my choice by not eating there - and also, any holiday resort that has Mcdonalds would, to me, be rough and down-market so I wouldn't even think of going there.
I still remember the documentary that looked into the standard of food in McDonalds and the butcher who said 'It's beef because it's from a cow but Its not what the general public would call beef! The times that I have had to eat the stuff (only thing open at a train station late at night) it just tasted of chemicals. |

Thats just like saying why would you wanna visit any country in the world and visit mcdonalds though lol, even thought i get you point about Italy. |

Better ask the Italians. McDonald's wouldn't have opened solely for the benefit of American tourists. There wouldn't be any profit in it, afterall as we are so continously reminded that only 10% of us have passports to begin with.
In Japan, with great japanese food, the McDonald's are packed with locals with nary a foriegner in sight. There's one below my work and I rarely go to it if I can help it. |

The bulk of McDonald's Customers are Italian. They must be finding the Food tasty and affordable compared to what is Italian Staple food. The Restaurant offers comfortable Dining facilities that many Families enjoy. I cannot see what your gripe is . There are many Italian Restaurants in London, New York ,France etc . Food is a matter for Individual Tastes. |

Seen it all before

choice
and it is only the best food in the world - if you like it
i bet mcdonalds in italy do a roaring trade - selling to italians |
