I really battled this question because I wanted to be sure that I didn't miss it. But since I was travelling off-peak (as you are) I decided against pre-purchasing my ticket and it worked out great. I got there midmoring to allow the opening door tarffic to ease up and I was able to walk right in. Maybe snack somewhere good beforehand (near the ponte vecchio if you want senic) because the snack bar inside was expensive and not very good. |

I feel that if you are in Florence at least the day before, you should keep yourself on the safe side and buy tickets in advance.
Florence is rather crowded along these days and I wouldn't risk to miss visiting a so amazing place for the 5/6 Euro difference for on line booking.
Here is a link that should fit yr case

I would not, unless you think they will sell out of tickets. you could be delayed at your flight, or something could go wrong and you would just throw that money away then. |

No, I was there a year ago during this time, and the line was not long at all. It is better to buy them once you are there, it leaves more space in case you want to do something different. My niece is a student in Florence and she was able to get a "student discount." |

Like most responded, a general entrance ticket to the Uffizi gallery during the off-season normally does not require a ticket purchase in advance. There are speacial admission options that require advance ticket puchases months to a year in advance (plus permission) like the private walkway the Medici used to avoid the common-folk in the streets. Other than special event type things, in the months I've been to Florence in the off-season to include earlier this year, I've never had a problem getting in nor seen a very long line. You should be able to see all of the churches, museums, etc. with relative ease. Below are some good websites to check out.

On a recent visit, it was not necessary to buy tickets more than one day in advance. If your visit time of day is somewhat flexible, it should not be a problem. The online pre-booking costs almost twice as much, and even then the exact time is not guaranteed. Check the online link to see how many tickets are available for the day and times you want to visit. |

I would buy them ahead of time, i didn't and ended up waiting in line for 2 hours to get in. You might get lucky and not have to wait but i would be on the safe side. |

Generally it is recommended however it doesn't seem so bad on the off season. I was just there 2 weeks ago and we were able to get our tickets and walk right in. If you are concerned then get them ahead of time. |

I would because you don't want to miss it, it's fantastic, but Italians can be a bit "unpredictable". And you might run into a couple of coachloads of people who DO have their tickets already. You do NOT want to miss the Uffizi and you do not want to ruin your visit by stressing out in a long queue. |
