They are very different. The things they have in common are language; and even that is varied, because they have many different dialects; most many regions have a coast, and they all eat similar food (only the basics are similar, pasta/bread/meats/etc. each of the 20 regions have different cooking methods, and use different things, drink different wines, etc) |

There was an article posted on a website called Abbondanza! last year that spoke quite neutrally and honestly about "North vs. South" (Italy of course).
