Some US urban legends said that the Italy of the north is the rich and the(italy)south is poor, is that truth?

hey I am from the city that they make the Ferrari........in Modena..... is very nice expensive cars but I don't know about the indestructible...... if you wreck a car it gets broken........ :P
yes I also think that in the north we are more prosperous than the people in the south.......as for the Mafia it is for the Sicilia (originated in there) , Calabria (they named Ndrangheta), Napoli (named the Camorra), and Apulia ( named the Sacra corona unita) the newest group formed in the mafia........

Hi.. i'm italian, i live in turin, in the norht...
yes, it's almost totally true the first legend you've heard... the north is richer than the south, but that isnt' the only one thing...
south is more beautiful about weather, sightseeings and tourism, but is even poorer, and it's really difficult to find a good work, infact a lot of south people come in the norht to find some works. Even about schools/university, people say are much better in the north... Turin is famous for engineering, they say that the polytechnic is one of the best of the Europe, Milan is famous for economics, Pisa for math and sciences, Rome for medicine.
Is even true the legend about mafia.. mafia operate just in the south, in sicily, sardinia, naples exc exc.. but not in the worth, it has never operated in the north and it never will.
I dont know if in the south kenutky means whore... boh.. probably, here we have a lot of fantasy with names... ehehe=p
Ferrari are a really good kind of cars, i've heard about indestructible wheels, but i dont know if that's true or false...
but there are powerful motors and indestructible wheels even for maserati, lamborghini exc exc...

Well i am from Milan... and if you don't want to say that the south of Italy is poorer, it is at least safe to say that it is a completely different mentality. you know, just to avoid racism charges... :)
there are some people that created a party whose ultimate goal is to create a border between the north and the south, but i think that it's just political talk.
my opinion is based on history. Italy is a very young country. we were unified in 1861, and before that we were a bunch of countries that get smaller as you go further back. and before we were united, what today is call "mafia" was actually Southern politics. The families were running the country and all. when we were united the families continued running the country, but it just became illegal... rumors even say that they even have a parliament... this of course affected the corruption in the south, and consequently the wealth. and btw, mafia is italian simply because we were the first ones to discover it!!!
i never heard the Kentuky thing, honestly... which makes me conclude that it is a false legend :)
the ferrari motor is beautiful... it does not make noise, it sings like an lion, especially when you get into a tunnel. and i am not even going into the data of the car...

North is richer than South,but this is not very poor.There is Mafia in North South and especially in the parliament. But I think Mafia is all over the world.

north is richer than south, unfortunately it may be easier the north becomes poorer than south richer, the reason is corruption and mismanagement.

the most prominent politicians and the biggest chunk of personnel in public services are form south, no wonders.

I think the Italian guy gave you the best answer. Really. I'm alittle confused about the "Kentucky" question though. Maybe I don't understand the reference to it and Itally. I do know that the word "Kentucky", in the US anyway, is derived from three Indian words that (in English) mean "good hunting lands". I have found no references to whores or the like.

Yes, the Mafia is alive and well, but based mostly in Sicily.

Ferraris? Great car, but have you seen the new Bugatti Veyron? Street legal, with a top speed of 253 mph! That's not a typo - two-hundred and fifty-three miles an hour! 1,001 horsepower.

1- yes and no... north is said to be richer but at the end is also much more expensive, and generaly in south italy almoust mayority of people own his home-villa, life isn't so expensive..
2-south of Italy Kentuky ??? no...
3-...it's the "first company" in italy, the one that make more money in Italy (it's a news of some weeks ago...i would like make them pay taxes..)...it's well alive
4- yes, Ferrari is a great car,about weels i don't know but this car can go 350 km/h ... so they must bu resistent

urban legends are just legends- the stories people tell each other that can relate something to the reality but they are not real!
