Take your time. It is a wonderful city to visit if you're not in a hurry.
Buy a Vaporetta Pass to cover all your stay. It is easier to jump on a bus and head across the way than it is to walk there.
Get lost. The joy in Venice is to discover what is around the next corner and up the alley. When we were there last October I found a gorgeous mask store. It took me three days to find it again to show my wife and sister-in-law. A truly serendipitous moment.
Eat at the restaurants away from the Grand Canal. Food is the same or better the costs are less than half. Learn to drink your coffee and wine standing up. You'll save a fortune. It costs more to sit than it does to drink.
Enjoy. Walk the quiet neighbourhoods with a camera and take lots of pictures. You will be rewarded.

Been there many times. Have a good map or you will be unable to find your way around after you purposely get lost, which is the best way to discover the unexpected. Locate the old Jewish quarter to get away from the tourists.

Last month I went to Bibione. It is a good tourist place in Venetian coast. I was there and got all things to enjoy.I stayed in 'Hotel Bellevue', which I was booked from http://www.hotel-bellevue.it/. It provided me a very good service and I really enjoyed too from my heart, Its special and experienced staff give me very good service..

+Drinks cost less when standing at the bar.... sitting can cost you 2 to 5 times more.
+You can get cooked foods at some of the supermarkets... helping you save tons of money from many of the rip off joints. There is the Billa and Coop supermarkets around town. They even sell beer and wine... all you'll need will be plates, knives and forks and a bottle opener.
+Don't walk around in flip-flops... the streets are actually very dirty. Have a good pair of walking shoes. Another thing - I've often seen tourists cooling the hot and tied feet in the canals - DON'T do this. The water may be cooling but if you have any cuts on your feet you may get a serious infection.
+Sliced pizza shouldn't cost you more than 2.50 euros.... and I've seen a place right at the foot of the Accademia bridge where you can sit (outdoors) and get a simple plate sized pizza with no cover charge for only 8euro + drinks.
