I went in 2000 with my Dad and my Grandpa (who's a Southern Italy native). My Dad somehow heard about a pizzeria called Pizzeria Baffetto (one block off of Piazza Navona - which is a really cool spot too), and we decided to check it out. It was the most delicious, incredible pizza I've ever had! I've had deep dish in Chicago, NY style in NY, Neapolitan (Naples) style, and nothing I've had even comes close to matching the Pizzeria Baffetto experience!
I went back for 3 days and two nights in 2004 with my wife, and made it a point to go to Baffetto again. I talked it up so much that I worried "there's no way it can live up to my memories of it". But, it was even better than my lofty memories! It was so good that we went there for dinner both nights, knowing that it could get no better anywhere else!
It is truly delicious, and worth two paragraphs of explanation LOL. We enjoyed Trevi fountain a lot, kinda romantic. Also, the Sistine Chapel was breathtaking! No pictures do it justice. The Colosseum and Forum areas are neat too. The Spanish Steps had a romantic feel to it also. But of all the great sites and things in Rome, nothing tops Pizzeria Baffetto to me! Sorry to make such a big deal of it, but it's that good and I hope others can share in that experience too. Have a great time! Try some gelato too (ice cream, but better). |

one of our best moments in rome was going to st. peters in the late afternoon. when we were in there they were conducted an evening mass and it was so beautiful. the buildling itself is just breathtaking and having a mass at the same time just completed the experience. |

Last time I went there the pope had died one day before. Amazing to see all the people!! Rome is beautiful, so are the stores and the buildings! I envy you lol. I'm German but currently living in the States. The ruins of Pompeji are worth a trip as well. |

funny moment: walking down the street eating ice cream in winter, wind came and i was freezing! got asthma after that for like.. 6 months. --> it had to be me..
advice: have fun! visit museums, because they are beautiful (ask for "villa borghese") dont take tours just go by yourself and explore on your own. dont worry that you wont get lost because all roads lead to Rome! |

The sunset at the Tevere, the basillica, etc.
It is a really nice city, almost I can say my favorite!
Don't miss icecreams, coffee, wine, etc.
Walk around streets and piazze, is very nice to do so. |

It doesn't matter whether you are Catholic or not, but it is worth going to see the pope at his window. He usually appears twice a week.
We stayed in an apartment which gave us a little different taste of traveling. You might want to explore this alternative lodging. It was not that expensive. |

In Rome.....being in the Coliseum and imagining what it was like; day trip to Pompeii, with a private guide-absolutely incredible; another day trip-Tivoli and Hadrian's Villa-also awesome; using private guides(English speaking w/air conditioned cars) made a tremendous difference in what we were able to see and experience |
