* Copy of your packing list. This will help you while packing up at the end of your trip. It will also be invaluable if a piece of your luggage gets lost, as you will know the contents that are missing.
* List of your travelers checks' serial numbers and 24 hour phone number for reporting loss or theft

* Any "essential" toiletries and one complete casual outfit in case checked baggage is delayed or lost

make sure any hair dryers, curling irons etc are dual voltage. Yes you will need adapters for them so that they fit the plugs. Wal-Mart and Target carry them, as well as many other stores. Take comfortable walking shoes. The streets are much more uneven and your feet will take a beating.
