To get a work visa for Italy must you already have a job lined up over there? |
Or if you have a sufficient amount of money to last you for a while ( a few months) can you get all the papers you need here in America and then go over there and look for a job?
Thanks for your help! Additional Details lol, and please specify which question it is you are answering :) Thank you! |

You cannot come to Italy on a tourist visa and then find a job and work here legally. A company must sponsor you. This is difficult because it is very expensive. There is a quota meaning only a limited number of work visas are issued each year for Americans. I doubt any company is willing to make this investment unless it is for a senior position with specific skills.
Do you have an Italian bloodline? If so, it may be possible to apply for dual citizenship. You need all related documents to link you to your ancestor, but once you have this the procedure is straightforward. If you have this you do not need to give up your US citizenship and can then live and work freely anywhere in the EU. |

yes, you need a letter of employment from an Italian company. I think you can go there without one as a tourist, get the necessary documents, but you have to exit the country before applying. Be aware that finding a job could be very hard. |
