Buy one of those little booklets with the timws for trains on them.
Theyre called orario dei treni
You pronounce it "o-rah-ree-oh dey treh-nee".
Some useful words are:
Partenze= Departures
Arrivi= Arrivals
Times= Orario/ plural is Orari

Try using a translator like http://babelfish.altavista.org

It isnt 100% efficient but itll help you pretty much.
Good Luck, and I hope my advice helped!

Check http://www.trenitalia.it/en/index.html for timetables and pricing which is Italy's national rail website. Raileurope and eurail charge a premium for their tickets and their timetables are incomplete.

Venice to Florence -
Take the Eurostar(ES) train from Venice/Venezia S Lucia (which is in Venice proper) to Florence/Firenze SMN-Santa Maria Novella train station. Venice Mestre station is on the mainland. The convenient times for the ES from Venice S Lucia are departures at 10:32 or 12:32. The trip takes 2hrs/49mins. The ES is Italy's fastest, premier train. 2nd class seats are €26.60 and 1st class is €39.25. 2nd class is just as comfortable as 1st class. In 1st class, the seats are a little wider and you get more leg room.

Florence to Rome-
Also take a Eurostar (ES) for this trip but instead of paying full fare(intera), you can apply the 29/39 Eurostar promotion. Travel 1st class for only 29 euros if available, otherwise you can try the 39 euro price. But for this trip 2nd class is adequate if you can't get 1st class for the €29 promotional price. If your plans are firm(it is cumbersome to get a refund), you can book using the "ticketless" option, you will get a PNR number and an e-mail from Trenitalia which you must show the conductor when he comes around and he will issue you a paper ticket. First register with Trenitalia for your user name and password. The password is CASE SPECIFIC. Check Trenitalia for the ES times most convenient for you. It is only a 1.5hr trip to get to Rome. If you don't see the e-mail response in your inbox, check your spam/junk-mail folder. The promotion in the drop down menu (click the arrow to the right of 'intera') is "In Eurostar a 29 euro" and "In Eurostar a 39 euro". Try the €29 price first. Otherwise, regular fare(intera) in 1st class = €42.35 and 2nd class = €29.44.

You can also book your Venice to Florence trip online using the "ticketless" option as well. Or you can book both your trips in Venice at the station 2-3 days before you leave from Venice. There is also an American Express office just west of San Marco where they can help you. It's located on Sal S Moise by Chiesa S. Moise (a church). The office is closed on the weekend, however. Intersecting streets are Calle di Ca Vallaresso/Frezzeria.

For the Eurostar, reservations are mandatory which is included in the price of the ticket. You will be assigned a train/TRENO, wagon/CARROZA, and seat/POSTO. Find your track/BINARIO from which your train will be departing from on the departure/PARTENZA boards at the station. Then if the train is at the track/platform or as it is pulling into the station look for the wagon number you are assigned and board that wagon then look for your assigned seats - seat numbers are posted by the window. The wagon numbers are by the doors at the end of each wagon. If you board on the wrong wagon, you have to drag all your luggage with you through several wagons until you find the one you were assigned.

You can also bring your favorite snacks, drinks, and sandwiches with you. The restaurant car is a little expensive and the food is just ok.

You can only book with Trenitalia 60 days in advance.

If you have any further questions, just ask.

Have a good trip.

The 29/39Eurostar Promotion. Check restrictions before buying.

Try this website and put your departure and destination.

http://www.trenitalia.it/en/orari_biglietti/index.html is the link, in English, to the Italian rail network timetable. Venice - Florence trains leave almost hourly (some with stops in Bologna) and Florence - Rome trains leave several times per hour.

Don't forget that the cities have different names in Italian and English:

Venezia - Venice
Firenze - Florence
Roma - Rome

In Italy they use the 24 hour format time for train schedule just for your information incase you might get confused

tennisballhead02
brutha. the only way I found train info was to go to the nearest train station and find the big board with destinations and times... then try to decipher it. The country is small enough that you should be able to figure it out from most stations
