Ryanair have flights from Rome to Venice. If you are flexible with dates you can find really cheap flights and flight is just under an hour.
Treviso ai rport is 45 minutes from downown Venice.
Eg: 16th August -
Depart: Rome (Ciampino) 06:25
Arrive: Venice (Treviso) 07:30
1 x Adult 9.99 EUR
Fare: 9.99 EUR
Taxes / Fees: 22.92 EUR
Total Price: 32.91 EUR
Buses departing from airport to Venice coincide with flight arrivals. Duration of journey from airport to downtown Venice is approx 70 minutes.
Bus from Treviso Airport to Venice centre:
Venezia-Mestre- Treviso Airport: single ticket (luggage included)6,00€
Venezia-Mestre- Treviso Airport: return ticket (luggage included)10,00€

Take Ryan Air... its very very cheap.
I believe the link is ryanair.com or something...
Its a small airline that flys out of small cities near the big cities.. I believe the airport name near Rome is Ciampino and I forget the name of the airport near Venice. But you take a bus ride into the city after the flight... super cheap and super easy... |

The correct answer is from Jabver26. The cheapest way is a low cost fly with Ryanair, Roma Ciampino-Treviso. If you book early you can fid offer for 0,01 euros (and taxes and surcharges), 9,98 euros less than the example of Jabver26. By plane you can also save lot of time.
Italian trains are very expensive, low cost doesn't exist, Trenitalia is eliminating all the cheapest trains and is raising prices more and more. |

By plane maybe? |

It is a six hour train ride. You will love it.
If you get a Europass it is cheaper, but that implies you are going to be using the train a lot.
PS Don't trust strangers at the MIlan station. Bad things have happened. |

Hello,
The cheapest and fastest way to get from Rome to Venice is by train. You can take the high speed train from Rome to Venice in 4 hours and 22 minutes for 44.90 euros 2nd class and 64.60 euros 1rst class with the amica fare. There are numerous trains between the cities every day so you won't have to buy your tickets before you get to Italy. To qualify for the Amica fare you must buy your tickets at least 24 hours in advance so buy your tickets the first day you are in Italy to get the fare. You can check out the trenitalia website for the times and the trains that are available. The faster the train the more you will pay so if you are not in a hurry and want to save some money just take a slower train. Do not buy a rail pass as these are expensive and point to point tickets are what you need. Also, make sure you go to the Venice St. Lucia (S.L.) station and not the Mestre station. The Mestre station is on the mainland and the S.L. station is actually on the island. If you get off at Mestre you will either have to walk or take another train across the bridge to the S.L. station.
I would not fly because even though the actual flight time is less than the train, you must get to the airport 2 hours prior and once you get to the Venice airport it is still about 40 minutes to the Islands and you must either take a boat or a bus to get there. At least on the train you can relax and enjoy the country side of Italy.
You can purchase your tickets at any train station. You can use the self service kiosks to avoid the lines at the ticket counter. Check the trenitalia website, find the train that you want to take and make a print out of the page. Take this with you to the train station to make sure you get the train you want. If you have to use the ticket counter, you can show the person at the counter the train you want by showing them your printout.
Have a great trip, Donna |

u can go to venice by train...it's cheaper than the plane, and north italy railways are very efficient, but, if u wanna travel very quickly, i think the plane is the best way for travellin'...
u can also take a coach...but only if u have as much money as the train and the plane need....
however, have a gd time in italy!!!!!
here there r some useful links:
italian railways (trenitalia)... it's written in the italian-language:

go to Roma Termini (the Train Station) and buy some train tickets to Venice. This is no doubt the best way. Faster than a car and much cheaper than flying.
You can buy tickets online
