You'll find different prices.Doesn't matter if you are in downtown or not.Now in a restaurant you spend from 20 to 50 eur. with a no expencive wine. For a pizza beer and coffee you spend around 10 euro. And to drink something go to "Brera " zone between the Duomo and the Castle Sforzesco. Is full of good locals. Or you have to go at "naviglio" .There is a canal and a lot of good places also with live music. So enjoy your time in Milan

hello i come from Milano but i live in Perth. (sorry for my english) i suggest to you live the experince typical to Milano called Happy Hours usually start around 6.00pm until 9.00pm. this experience you will have in every pub, bar. Substancially is an aperitif with a big buffet usually this cost approximative 10-15 euro. Nice place for live it are in Naviglio zone or around the Corso Como (there there are a lot of pub. usually in this price there is included one alcholic cocktail, if you want more liquid you will pay.i dont know where you will have the convention but consider this if you dont have car the price of the underground called Metro' the ticket price if not increased is 1. euro for one way in the underground but is valid 75 min if you use in the bus or eventually you can buy day ticket for 3.5 euro
the pizza usually was 10 euro when the euro coming but now everywhere 1 margherita pizza and 1 beer is about 20 euro.
in Milano and in all Italy you will not find a food court. the coffee is about 0.80 euro cent but you will drink where you order, drink and go if you sit at bar for coffe the price encrase until 5 euro depend where you are. i suggest to you to try the hot choccolate is so different there.
i dont know how older are you but if you like to go to cinema usually on monday or tuesday depende the cinema there is the movie in original language... english usually. if you like go to disco in Corso Como there is one called Holliwood and is more popular, other in town are in Mecenate Zone are big. i dont know when you go in my town (sigh i miss) but if you go in december around 4- 10 december you will consider Milano have a big holliday 6 and 7 december and there is a big market free called Obei Obei, a lot of people visit it, in same time there is a show called Fiera dell'artigianato where you can taste everithing.
if you like the culture there is a few big museum
if you go behing the Scala theatre there is a lovelly area with pubs.
usually for the Milanesi (the name of the people who live in Milano) monday is a littlebit quite but the rest is always busy and safe for all night consider too the underground service in the night stopped nearly 1.00am but the bus continuing the service until 5.00am isc.
if you want know and maybe give to me more details i can help you.
(hoping my english is good)
cheers

Do not stay in city centre of milano, it is very very expensive and you cannot find cheap delicious food .
I recommend to stay one of suburb of milano, you can come to milano by train in 10-15 min. My recommendation is saronno it is very beautiful cheap town and very close to milano the Hotel is principe hotel it is very clean and has delicious foods.
Then it is up to you

500 euros will do it. 100 per day at the rate you are going.
