Trieste or Lake Garda?

We will be in Venice for 2 and half days.

I was planning a one day trip to either Trieste or Lake Garda.
I need to know which is better option?
Is Lake Garda one-day trip feasible from Venice?

Thanks in advance!

Lake Garda and Trieste are both pretty long trips from Venice in a day but definitely possible. Lake Garda would be my choice though why don't you perhaps visit some of the other places in Veneto that are equally as lovely and nearer to Venice - I have put together a few of my favorite: http://www.venice-italy-veneto.com/veneto-italy.html

I've been to both and each have things to recommend it.

Trieste is a beautiful city with an interesting history. It's called the "lost city" because of its remote location and how often it has changed hands through the ages.

As much as I liked Trieste, however, I prefer Lago di Garda for its scenic beauty. Unfortunately, I don't think Lago di Garda is feasible for a one-day trip. To fully appreciate the beauty of the lake, you should take the time to drive around it. It is a rather long lake, so it would take one day to drive up one side and one day to drive down the other. There are interesting places at which to stop along the way. On the eastern shore is an olive-oil museum that we found interesting (well, maybe not everyone would). There are also many nice, small restaurants and cafes.

Here's a good website: http://www.gardalake.it/

If you like the outdoors, go to the lake. If you want to explore an old European city go to Trieste. You can't go wrong either way.

I stayed in Bibione in Italy recently and we travelled through Trieste some pretty nice scenery and old architecture.Ive never been to lake garda but heard its beautiful with plenty to do.
