really? august is terrible in Rome: too hot! If I was you, I would go to Sardinia, Sicily, or Toscana (to the beach) and I would visit Rome during the autumn/winter. |

If you are brave enough to go in August good luck.
For flights Ryan Air for as little as 1p in late August.
For accommodation try Booking.com they have good deals in many places.
As for getting around what ever it says in another answer Rome has the most disconnected public transport systems in Italy with a number of operators and no inter availability of tickets. |

for airline deals? depends on where you're flying form, but i looked up cheaptickets.com and went from toronto to london for 600 dollars return, then i booked a ticket with wizzair or ryanair (can't remember which one) to rome and venice and it cost 50 dollars each. So if you research cheap deals and are flexible with your dates it shouldn't be a problem. |

look for your flights on Skyscanner.net and your accomodation on Hostelworld.com ...
or you can find hotel deals with Ryanair or Expedia
And look for your tours of Vatican City / Fountains / St Peters with EnjoyRome.com or Original Renaissance Walks of Italy (google search)
Hope that helps

August is peak season to get airline tickets. But british airways has been having really good deals lately. there website is www.britishairways.com. If you are in the EU then try ryanair or easyjet they have tons of flights to rome everyday and they are always really cheap but they only fly around europe. |
