Venice or Venice Lido?

I'm going to Venice on honeymoon. Should I stay in Venice or Venice Lido? I understand they are close to each other, what are the pros and cons of staying on each?

I'd say stay in the city. You can find affordable options, and be right in the heart of the city--more time to discover all the city has to offer. And believe me, you'll get lost your first time there. But it's the kind of lost you won't mind.

SUMMER!

Hi! I live near Venice and I suggest you to stay in the centre of Venice: Venice Lido is a small country where people go in summer, but there's anything to see!
Ciao! :-)

Definitely not the Lido ,I think it is much less expensive for a hotel on the lido but you won't get the wonderful atmosphere of Venice. I took a vaperetto to the lido and was not impressed . It was about a 15 min. ride I think ?

Venice - heart of the action!

As it's your honeymoon, I'd highly recommend staying in Venice. The Lido is lovely - beaches, friendly, good place to ride a bike and relax, but it's a very different feel to Venice itself (it has roads, and cars, for a start!). It's definitely not as romantic, and not as memorable. The vaporetto is about 20 mins or so to Venice, and goes quite frequently, but it does distance you from being able to just go out for a quick romantic stroll before bed.

You should stay actually in Venice. The Lido is very nice but its like a sea side resort and a good 20 mins by vaporetto to Venice itself. I'd recommend the San Pietro district of Venice as its very near to the main sites such as the Rialto and Saint Marcs but it's a beautiful warren of restaurants and shops.

Buona fortuna.

Ps
Look at www.venere.com

You can look at hotels by region and there's lots to choose from.
