i think that before buying an eurorail you have to think to all the places that you want to go in italy...i mean check the web site www.trenitalia.com
...there is not written the price for all the trains but it is just for give you an idea of the medium price of a train trip.
for example:ancona-roma is 14 euro(4 hours of journey)! or ancona-bologna is 11 euro for 2 hours...
i've just seen the eurorail web site..it is expensive i think,because you want to see cities that are closer to each other:bologna,ancona,rome,florence,napol... are closer to each other and you won't spend all that money for these trips=)so i think that for you is better if you buy tickets as you come to ITALIA!=) |

Eurail is only worthwhile is you intend to make long distance trips, so it depends exactly on where you want to go.

I'm going through the same research at the moment and have found that for the travel we're doing it'll be cheaper for us to buy individual tickets for each leg, but this depends on where you are traveling within Italy & how much traveling you're planning to do on the trains.
I'd recommend looking online & calculating the cost for each option - with & without rail pass. Don't forget you'll need to pay a booking fee for each leg even if you have a rail pass. |
