Your tourist visa will be good for only 3 months.... Enrioll in a school and you best bet may be in Perugia. Also, many American Universities have exchange programs - check those out.
Maybe you could intern with the some international agency or one of the US State Department's offices in Italy.
OK - now you'll have to do some foot work.

You need a visa (which you can only get from outside of Italy) to stay in Italy for more than 90 days in any 180 day period. The best way to do this might be to go to a language school (search on ITALY and LANGUAGE SCHOOLS) and they will help you get the visa you need. There are large schools in Perugia and Urbino. |
