Absolutely no public drunkeness in Italy. Can't compare it to Spain in that sense. |

I'm assuming you mean a quiet place for a holiday, and would recommend the Amalfi area of Italy. Fantastic scenery, loads of atmosphere and no drunks (well, I didn't see or hear any!). The lakes are good too - especially the northern end of Lake Garda! Enjoy. |

No really not that much yet...Italy is not the "choise" of british tourists so much (thanxs god) and Italy itself got the lowest rate of using alcohol so you will hardly see this kind of things like in England where drunked swaines beasts fighting piss and vomit everywhere but I am not totally sure about the tirrenic coast..for sure you wont find those scums brits on the adriatic side specially Abruzzo and Molise got fantastic coast very peaceful and far very far from those Uk beasts, i can guarantee this because i go there often, i hope they will stick always in Spain or place like that and leave us in peace |

Keep away from the coastal resorts, get a villa up in the hills away from all the drunken ned's & chaves that frequent the resorts at the sea |

We live on a farm in the foothills of the Apennines in the Abruzzo region of Italy. Very quiet and no drunken Brits here!
We don't hang out in the sort of places that might attract that sort of people - beach resorts with discos that go on until at least 5 am - but I've never seen any evidence of obnoxious drunken Brits here. In fact, most of the Brits who make it to Abruzzo do their best to pretend that they're the first ones to discover the place. They generally keep a very low profile, do their best to speak Italian and try to blend in with the locals.
Quiet - like sun and spectacular mountain scenery - is something that Abruzzo does very well. |

In Italy I suggest anywhere in the Tuscan Region....very relaxing. Wine is the drink of choice - that's why its mellow :) |

the only problem in italy are american teenagers that drink beer with italian teenagers. brits... a bit.
if you see some 14,15 and 16 years old drinking beer in a bar in italy, they will soon be drunk and usually or are from america or italy.
the reason why the american teenagers drink it's because they can't in USA, that's all.
I am their age, and last summer i brought 16 fifteen year old kids to the police station, they were all american.
have a nice trip, and if you see some american drunk, punch im and bring im to the police station ok?
ciao! |

No, when I was last there there was no evidence of English Pond Life at all.
If you really want peace and civilised behaviour then try Finland you will not regret it. |

no i lived and worked in rome over the summer (ironically in a bar) and i can safely say much to my dissapointment that there is not a drinking culture, Italians do not drink alcohol like that, and so as a result do not attract the english people you want to avoid, because even if you want to find bars in italy even the cpital u will really struggle - so uwill be fine |

Why just drunken Brits, do no other Nationalities roll about drunk in Spain?
I go to Spain all the time, I have seen all Nationalities drunk.
OK the Brits seem to be worse than most others, and not only in Europe! I worked overseas a lot and flying back home to the UK was an embarrassment, to say the least , right I wont go into that!
To return to your question.
Spain is a massive place and very varied, there are lots of places matching your description. Look around some more.

Italy has become much more expensive than Spain or Greece. Less package tours, less public drunkeness.
I don't see why Brits who want to drink don't just fly to Cancun Mexico. The pound is so strong agains the peso that it would be cheap to just go to clubs and be total idiots. |

Italy is usually more expensive than Spain or Greece but more friendly and sure than some low cost resorts of these lands. In some places on the coast you can find familiar atmosphere and no drunkeness at all. Some Italian young people drink a lot, but less than in other countries, and usually in the discoes, not in the street. You won't find a Lloret de Mar nor a Torremolinos in Italy.
Quiet places on the seaside not much attended by stranger tourists are in regions Marche, Abruzzo, Puglia. Tuscany can be very crowded but there are wonderful towns to see. |

Some parts but not if you go to someone nice like Trieste in the north. Basically just avoid the places that the package tours go to and you will be ok.
Just come back from Trieste, no shell suits, no tattooed women, no chavs, no drunks..brilliant. |
