I would suggest you type "Map of Italy" in some research engines like Yahoo or Google and you will be able to see the prospective of the distances.
The epicenter of the earthquake was about 80 miles Northeast of Rome. Rome was not affected even if they felt the shocks.
Florence is about 180 miles Northwest of the epicenter. They were unaffected.
Milan is way up North, about 400 miles from where the earthquake took its toll, and no repercussions took place there as well.
You can remain confident that your vacation destinations have been unaffected by the earthquake and you will be safe without feeling the consequences of the tragedy that hit L'Aquila and its surroundings. |

The earthquake was near the east coast of Italy, while Rome is on the west. Rome was barely affected (just some rattled furniture and car alarms), and aside from people talking about it, it should be ok. the other two cities are so far away from the quake that it won't affect you at all. |

It was a bit North East of Rome. But don't worry, your holiday will not be affected. |
