Don't try to visit the Vatican or see its museum, unless you are a art history buff... the lines are long and its unsatisfying. I would also not go to the Roman Forum (though if you are ever in Rome again, def get a guide and do it), again unless there is some special reason that it would be meaningful to you. The Colosseum is great, right off a Metro stop and there is plenty near-by to look at during a quick stroll. The Pantheon is also a favorite of mine, but make sure you get a good map to find it. I would suggest taking the Metro to the Colosseo stop, walk to Trevi fountain since people will ask if you threw in coins (it is beautiful, but very crowded and crazy... not a place you want to hang out for long), then walk to the Pantheon. On the walk back, take the big street that intersects with the Vittorio Emmanuele monument and window shop (You will know exactly which street and giant white wedding cake monument I mean). Then get back on the metro and get thee to the airport. While you are walking, find an out of the way gelato shop or diner to get a bite to eat and relax. Above all - get a good map and study it before you start out on your journey! There are plenty of ways to get lost! |

Go visit the trevi fountain, the coliseum, and the roman forum and have a gelato if this is your only time in Italy! |

I suggest you get on the 110 Trambus. It's 13 Euro and it travels all around Rome. In two hours you can see all the major sites and you will have time to get off at least once. One thing to remember is that the airport is quite far away from the city center. I belive it's at least 30 minutes by taxi. If you don't have luggage take the subway. If you take it to the Termini station the 110 Trambus is right outside. |

I would say use one of the "on and off" buses. That way you don't waste a lot of time lost and wandering around! Definately see the Colosseum, St. Peter's Square, the Sistine Chapel. Other than that, you won't have much time because the lines are so long! |

Definately check out the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican, also the coliseum.
You won't be disappointed! |
