The best thing about Italy is how beautiful the cities are, especially Rome and Venice. So full for history and culture. There's no place in the world like it.

The worst thing is how the trains are never on time. They are always late.

Like in every other country, there are good and bad things.. The only way to appreciate a new place is to come with a open-mind and adapt yourself to a different culture..
Ps: not everyone do not speak english.. We always try to comunicate with foreign people.. in a bad english, but always better than nothing.. don't you think so???

Well let me tell you, I lived in Italy on the island of Sicilly for over 13 years working for the miltary.
Thier lots of pluses and minuses.
PLUSES:
1) The food is the best in the world, but let me make a suggestion when you go to the fancy resterants you pay alot for the food, but if you go to these mom and pops little resterants you will be surprised of the quality of food and quanty and the prices are half the prices of the fance resterants.
2)Women are the very beautiful.
3) The culture of the Italian people are nice that they will do anything for you.
4) if you buy gold it's fairly cheap and it's all 18 Kt gold.
I just to say I could write pages and pages of good things but thier is some bad things.
Bad:
1) Watch your pocket book and wallets
2) thier are some places on the streets that are pretty dirty even though they have trash cans every where Italian just throws stuff everywhere even though it a big problem.

That is SO subjective!!!
What one person might love, another could hate and vice versa. It really depends on who you are and what your peeves and enjoyments are. I know people who absolutely love everything about Rome and others who would rather die then go anywhere near the place, so...And having said that, each part of Italy is vastly different, so...
And, as an example, one of your answerers said they use cell phones a lot. I hate listening to people on their cell phones in this country, but LOVED it when I was in Italy because I love listening to the Italian language. So, you see, different strokes for different folks. Some people hate being overrun by Vespas, others love it...

Best thing about Italy - their food is some of the best in the world.

Worst thing about Italy - their cities are falling apart. They're ruins everywhere *L*

Best thing about Italians - Their women are some of the most beautiful in the world.

Worst thing about Italians - The men will hit on you and harrass you in the streets.

we just came back and fell completely in love with the country. there were some things that had us kind of scratching our heads, but anything bad that happened on our trip was of no cause from the country or its people. their language, landscape, history, food, people, and everything else is just wonderful. not to say i wasn't happy to come back to the U.S., but it was such a great place. It really didnt feel any worse than other places. we were just so appreciative to have been treated so kindly the whole length of our trip, even as we struggled to communicate due to our lack of language skills.

bittersweet
I lived in Italy...dated a man from Naples for 3 yrs.

The best thing is of course is the natural beauty of the country itself. The food and wine are amazing. The people in smaller towns and villas are terribly sweet and wonderful to foreigners.

In the cities...people can be a little pushy, a little rough around the edges, but like all cities, there is riffraff! The huge stereotypical Italian man isn't really in existence...Yes, they stare and drool, but 9 times out of 10, they will just keep on walking. Yeah, they may add a Ciao Bella!!, but they are quite shy by nature. The women are sweet and lovely, but can be a little bitchy...for some reason many European women have this strange idea that American women are evil and will break-up a marriage and steal their boyfriend/husband.

Other than these quirky little things, everything about Italy is quite wonderful...I miss it a whole bunch, everything...the lifestyle, the food, the fashion, the people...have fun!!

The best thing about Italians is the country they live in and the worst thing about Italy is the locals who live there.
