Early to late Spring is the best time to tour Italy because
climate is still cool and not scorchingly hot as in summer,
and there are still fewer tourists. But if you'd like to hit the beaches, July-August would be better since the weather is warmer and conducive to sunbathing and swimming in the usually cold Mediterranean waters. June weather is
usually punctuated by thunderstorms and heavy rains. Fall
would be a good alternative to Spring, but then you can have
also have wet weather like in June. The following cities are a must: Rome, for its antiquities and the Vatican treasures; Sorrento and the Isle of Capri; the Amalfi
Coast (Positano, Ravello); the ruins of Pompeii;
Florence, for its Renaissance art; Venice, for its unbelievable canals and pallazzos; Bologna, for the best in
Italian cuisine; Pisa, for the unforgettable Leaning Tower;
Milan for high fashion and Leonardo da Vinci's fresco
painting of The Last Supper; Cinque Terre towns and the Italian Riviera (Sta. Margherita) and the Lake District
(Lake Como and Lago Maggiore) for its heavenly atmosphere,
and Turin, for Alpine atmosphere and the Holy Shroud of
the Christ. Visit Italy at least once in your lifetime, and you'll never forget this experience for the rest of your life.

May is great as it's often very hot and sunny, but not too hot, and everything is open until quite late, and it's not too touristy like in Summer or easter or Christmas holidays may be.

Is there ever a bad time? :) May, June, September and October are always good months, but in December near Christmas is special as well. Rome, Florence, Venice, Sorrento, Positano...so many to choose from...it all depends upon what you like to do on vacation.. Enjoy!!

Go Italy in May or in Sep

Because thats the good times when there not alot of tourists & it gets easy for travellers to tour the places in a proper manner...

Well you can visit:

ROME- Culture capital
MILAN- Fashion capital
Varona- Where Romeo & Juliet met...

May or early June. After that it'll be baking hot and the cities become ghost towns as everyone leaves for the coast. Milan for shopping, then go to Lake Garda for a day or 2 to chill out, then on to Verona and Venice, then down to Tuscany (Florence = centre of art and Renaissance), spend a day or 2 in the surrounding hills sipping wine and catching your breath. You could go to Siena where there is the Palio (medieval joust/horse-race in the city centre) but check the dates as they hold the Palio twice a year. Then go down to Rome and if you have time spend a couple of days on the Amalfi coast. Bliss!!!

April/May is probably the best because its not too hot, and the tourist season hasnt swung into action yet. Probably the same is true for Sep/Oct although I bet Sep is still pretty hot. Italy can be really hot if that is of concern to you. I went in July and it was great. I like hot.

My own suggestion to you-visit Italy (and especially Venice) only during Venitian karnaval! Ive was there a month ago & I never had such an emotions before! It tooks place usually in Febuary! Of cause its a little bit cold there! But in summer the water in Venice smells so bad & its usually very hor ther! And in Febuary you can use many options! 1. Not much tourists! 2. Hotels are cheaper in February! 3. Karnaval!!!! You defenitly should visit it!
