What's the deal with the gypsies in Italy? I am scared to travel there because of them!? |
Why can't they get a job and earn money and why do they train their kids to steal from people? How can I avoid them? I HATE THEM! |

Gypsies ARE NOT italian in any way...they come from the east of europe and from Macedonia and Kossovo as well...unfortunatly lots of them came to Italy and we cant get them off the country as the Eu stop us to take the right tools to do that..dont worry anyway most of them are concentrate in the very big cities in few centre's roads and you won't find them everywhere just only when a dirty begging person come close you faster your step and make sure your bags are very shut and your wallet is in a safe place...If you ignore them they will start to insult you..dont pay any attention and keep your way on! I am sorry about that but is a very big problem for us italians as well we are too soft with laws too tolerant and we pay the conseguences...use the common sense and you will be fine and dont worry you won't find them everywhere !! |

Hi
Italy is not used to have immigrants, in the past we were used to go away from Italy in order to find a better country. Now the circumstances are changed, there are people who come here from Africa, Eastern-Europe and Asia... This is the first wave of immigration which Italy sees in all its modern history unlike other European countries like UK or France that started to have immigrants earlier...
In these years Italy seemed to me quite unprepared to receive these people, it saw theme as enemies, therefore a strong policy of intolerance took place here, and, instead of trying to integrate theme in our society, they started being discriminated ( see, for example the so-called "Lega Nord")... So they started stealing and living at the border of our society because they have no other choice...
You must pay attention to your bag and wallet, I advice you not to bring a lot of money with you when you go out... However, personally I've never had any problem with gypsies ( I live in Florence), sometimes I think that the media are exaggerating this problem in order to create a kind of anguish among the people ( very useful for the politicians)... Moreover not all the pickpockets are gypsies, this is only a wrong prejudice, there are also a lot of Italian ones...

This is kind of mean...I don't find them that bad, it's not exactly easy to find a job when everything's taken is it? If you were starving you'd probably steal...for survival. Oh & don't hate. |

Do not worry about the gypsies in Italy, if we do not do not if you do not buy anything just things to them even if you find a bargain.
We are full of people but not all are bad.
Being discriminated against is not easy for them to find work and are forced to steal or ask alms on the streets also exploiting children.
But today in Italy there are laws that prevent.
