Apartments - Is self service. You come and go as you please, cook your own meals, wash your own clothes .. You have the full experience of living in another country .
B & B - is like staying at your parents house while your in town. Some provide breakfast, make the beds, offer assistance as needed. The draw back is theremay be a curfew.
I suggest u rent a apartment if your staying longer then 6 days. You will be able to cut cost by cooking your own meals, etc. Which saves more money for other things. And only stay in a B & B if you want to do side trips to another city.
Hopes this helps. |

If you like to cook for yourself, I would recommend an apartment. (That's what I'm getting in May.) There seem to be lots of horror stories about B & B's - mostly about breakfast being a small cup of coffee and a roll, or half the time there is no one to bring the breakfast, or time constrictions, etc. I got an apartment for a week for 650 Euros near the Vatican. With a patio. With an apartment, you eat what you want, when you want, and you could even pack lunches or snacks. Also, with some B & B's, you might be sharing the bathroom with the owner, since you may be basically renting a room in their house. |

An apartment you have the whole place to yourself and you can cook if you fancy it. Generally only available for week bookings or longer though. You can have a nap in the middle of the day without disturbing anyone. May work out cheaper and nice for groups who want to spend time together.
A B&B has someone there to welcome you (no challenges handing over keys etc.). You can get directions, restaurant recommendations, someone to make phonecalls in Italian for you, etc. Your bed will be made. Breakfast is usually included. You're generally expected to be out of your room from the morning til the evening though. Better for shorter trips? |
