it depends on the area..... the north Italy is usually cooler than the south......... in my opinion if you are for touring , july will be the best time...... but Italy is nice all year long :)

agatha christie
It varies a lot depending on the area. Usually the weather is better in the south, April can be rather unpredictable but from May on it is usually nice enough everywhere.

april is still cool and moody..sometimes can be cold especially in the north.....from may on weather become very mild and sunny with good temperatures, sunny days and cool breeze, june is perfect, not too hot but mild-warm....in may blossoming is sooo nice and spring is far one of the best season in italy especialling for trvellers and backpackers...

i'm italian!!! ;)

I think july is the worst because is hot as hell, unless you love the steaming heat I suggest you to go in mY or september the best months of all.
I'm from Italy!!

I'm Italian and the first answer is very good and very really...

I went in April and found it a bit varied...I proably had my best day on day 1!! it was very warm and lovely....after that I had it a bit overcast...I know it rained most of my time in Rome ( but it didn't stop me enjoying it!!)...oh we had a trip to Pompeii where it was overcast but muggy and warm....

So I would say changable from cool to warm, overcast and rainy to beautiful sunshine!! I do remember 1 day where I did feel quite cold and overcast( in Venice), but the next day was a corker, os be prepared for the changes......I don;t think it changes the overall feel of Italy..which is wonderful!
