Rome is very much the center of Italy.
Which Italian cities to visit?
That's a tough one, there are so many great Italian cities! Really take your pick, you'll enjoy them all, but it does depend what you're looking for...
Rome has a lot to see and can keep you occupied with art, history and nightlife.
I live in Rome so I guess I'm a little biased. Roman life is good, the Italian culture is great everywhere you go! |

Well, from the map I'm looking at there are quite a few, and I'm sure there are more that I'm missing:
Rome & the Vatican City, Pescara, Terni, Spoleto, Ascoli, Piceno, Anzio, Latina, Terracina, Cassino, Campobasso, Termoli, Viterbo, Foggia, Benevento, Caserta, Aversa, Assisi, Perugia, Fermo, San Benedetto del Tronto
Personally, of all the above named cities, I've only ever heard of Rome and think that is where I would like to go, but if I really were going to visit I and was looking for cool tourist spots, I found a great website, check it out:
http://www.italiantourism.com/
Here you can see what is there, by each region of Italy
Also, I just found the official Italian State Tourist Board: http://www.enit.it/default.asp?Lang=UK |

I'd definitely visit Rome, the capital. It's full of nice places to see: Coliseum, Circus Maximus, Pantheon, Piazza di Spagna, Trevi Fountain, The Vatican Museums, and St. Peter’s Basilica. Check out this website for more information:

Florence is beautiful as well. There is the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, The San Lorenzo Market.

In Assisi you can find many religious heritage: Basilica of S. Francesco and the Holy Convent, the Basilica of S. Chiara.

And Pisa is my absolute favourite! The famous tower of Pisa and the whole area around it is wonderful.
