i don't know how high is your budget, but the designers street, in florence, is Via Tornabuoni and the area around...there you can find cavalli, guess, fendi, dolce&gabbana, versace...and Via del Corso (from Duomo square to piazza della signoria-it's the central street) where you can find gucci, miss sixty, luisa via roma (who sells lanvin and marc jacobs, for example), la rinascente(sells many brands and not only clothes), guya (yamamoto, comme des garcons, vivienne westwood), braccialini,chanel....

if your budget is not that high you can find a lot of stores with "human" prices :-P...it's not that useful for you to have a list-you will see them! just remember via del corso and the streets around, the majority is there
well, don't forget s.lorenzo's market (borgo s.lorenzo-it's in the city center as well) cute market where u can find very good leather bags in any size or colour, clothes, scarfs, ties, hats, belts, jewelry....

In Rome,

Make sure you go to Via del Condotti (near Spanish steps), it has shops such as:

- super store Fendi (multi level and huge)
- 2 Bvlgari shops within 3 mins walk
- Versace
- Prada
- Louis Vuitton
- Valentino
- Bally
- Trusardi
- Gucci (if you go to www.gucci.com, currently they have a limited edition gucci bag printed wiht Via del Condotti street to commemorate the Gucci store :-) which you can see from the front window)
- fornarina

Perpendicular to Via del Condotti is Via del Corso where you can find the lower key brand such as zara, nike, etc. In the end of Via del Corso, there's a department store called la renaisnace which sells quirky independent label from all over the world and also the famous Italian obsecure handbag called Cocinelle. Via del Corso also sells lots of independent designer. Just stick to those 2 streets and you'll find anything you need for shopping. I bought cool sailing jacket (Murphy NYE) from Via del corso also found independent Denmark designer called Margit Brandt of copenhagen and a lot of other good things :-)

Trust me on this because I'm a shopaholic and always work my shopping based on Quality, Quirkyness and time saving :-)!

Venice has designer stores too like Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Valentino, Prada, etc in little cute narrow streets but I think Rome has more varieties and stores.

Florence is also good for shopping, I'd get pure Italian leather (not necessarily branded) and leather gloves if I happen to be in Florence because that's what they're famous for. There's also another street full of shopping as well as department store.

Happy Shopping!!!

Hi, I' m Giorgia from Naples. If you want to buy REAL designer clothes, is enough to go to shops and not to buy to "bancarella", it is to say from people who sells stuff in the street, they are NEVER real, trust me!!!!!!!!

You can find in these beautiful cities a lot of wonderful shops.. I suggest to you Liu Jo, Pinko, Patrizia Pepe, Alviero Martini, Fiorucci, Fornarina, if you see in the street "La Rinascente", go in 'cause it' s a sort of "little mall" where you can find a lot of Italian brand!

Anyway, when you' ll come in Italy, you ' ll see a lot of shops and you won' t need my advice because there will be so many shops that you' ll lose your head!!!!!!
