I'd recommend Tuscany, Cinque Terre, and Capri, in addition to the standards of Florence and Venice.

Rome and Rome and Rome. Rome is really impressive. Venice, Florence, and Pisa are great as well.

The Amalfi coast, Positano in particular. I think this is the most beautiful place in the world, and I've been around. More beautiful than Hawaii.

Next, is Pebble Beach on the Monterey Penninsula. The town of Carmel and those golf courses. Mmmmm good.

SigmaBeta
Roma,Tuscany (Firenze + Siena and surround),Venice. If you have time do not miss Cinque Terre,Costiera Amalfitana (included Pompei and Hercolaneum). These two last spots only in case of good weather.

I agree with Rome, Venice, Florence, Pisa etc. Portofino is a beautiful place, and some of the small towns such as Spoleto just north of Rome. As well as the towns in Tuscany such as Perugia, Foligno, Orvieto and Fiesole just above Florence. Beautiful Country

Beth
Venice and Verona, if you go during winter months, go skiing near Folgaria, it's the best view I've seen yet!
