In Rome, you should spend a lot of time in the ruins. That's my favorite part of the city. You can get a really good sense of Ancient Rome by walking through there and seeing the Colosseum nearby. Some parts of the ruins require admissions, but a large portion is few and open most of the day - until seven o'clock, I believe.

In Venice, you don't really need special sites to see. The whole place is awesome.

In Florence, you should have a gelato and afterward, if you enjoy museums, see a couple of those. You should also see some of the churches there like Il Duomo and Santa Croce. Florence, to me, never seemed as full of things to enjoy as the other cities, and more spread out. Cross the Arno and visit Pitti Palace if you have time.

two of the best things we did in florence were the boboli gardens (in the afternoon the sun plays through the leaves and the place is just beautiful) and we climbed to the top of the duomo. what an awesome sight!

in rome, the best thing, in our opinion, was st. peters basillica. that building has such a powerful feeling to it.

I LOOOOOVED Rome!!! I really enjoyed the main city the most, even more than the ruins. I loved walking through the shopping areas and down the alleys to see the buildings... every one is amazing!!! I didn't get to go into the Vatican because the lines were too long so make sure you do some research to figure out what time is best. I also loved the little cafe/resturaunts. I liked just sitting at a table with a pizza and just looking. OMG SOOO BEAUTIFUL!!!

In Florance, I liked to also just walk through the alleys. Also, it is really fun to watch the painters. They do such spectacular work!

In Venice, it's easy to see everything. I did the whole city in less than a day. Definitely go to the glass blowing shop... I don't remember the name but its off in a corner right over a bridge (haha but what isn't in Venice). Just ask someone. And of course you MUST take a gondola ride. And another thing that was fun was the main square (with the pidgens) however, if you dont like birds, stay away. And lastly, right by the shore is so beautiful. Oh and an interesting thing you may already know is that the main square fills completely up with water by the end of the day so be sure to get there early to see it before it is covered.

HAVE FUN!!! I can't wait to head back to Italy!

In Rome you have to see the Colosseum but you MUST arrive there by la metropolitana. The best view is when you see it first time as you come out of the metro station.
You should also visit the catacombs there are a few different sites- the best ones give you a talk before.
The best place to eat lunch is one of the many cafes in Piazza Navona. The best place to sit and watch the world go by is Piazza di Spagna.
The best place to cool your feet on the icy marble floor is the Pantheon.
When you go to Italy if it is your first time don't try to see too much. Just go to one city wearing comfy shoes and let yourself wander.
