Hi,

I have used the "Green Guide" books and likes them very much.
Also the MIchelin giudes are useful.

You can have an overview of both on this site and maybe get some other tips too here:

Click the Italy-Maps link and then click on Guide-books under Categories.

Hope this gives you some help in your planning.

Have a nice trip to Italy!

The Michelin Guide of Italy is an excellent choice for the sights. The Michelin Green Guides do not cover hotels and restaurants, but they cover the sights more clearly than any other guide, rating them from no to three stars. While you may disagree with some ratings, they give you an idea of what sights are usually consider the most important. The color maps are excellent.

There are wonderful little known spots I have found on my trips to Italy because of this guide.

In addition to the guide of Italy, they have detailed area (Tuscany and Sicily) and city guides (Rome and Venice). But unless you are concentraing on those places, the Italy guide would be best.
