What are the cheapest cities (airports) to fly to in Italy from the States?

I plan on just traveling around Italy cheaply, but first I need to get there. I would like to figure out the cheapest way of getting there. Thanks!

Roma
There are regular non-stop flights from the U.S.to Rome and Milan. These are the 2 cheapest cities to fly to, non-stop from the U.S.

If you're willing to put up with some extra inconvenience, sometimes you can find cheaper flights by making an extra stop in Europe, such as going through London or Paris.

when you travel cheap by means of flying from the states as i did to Scotland i fly with northwest airlines and went coach northwest is 1 of your cheaper flights as well as flying coach and you will have to more than likely have a lay over in another city after you have Left the states when i got to the Netherlands i had to change flights from northwest to duct airlines as you may have to as well my round trip cost me about 700.00$ for round trip and then you will need money to live on once your there but have everything in order because when you enter the Netherlands and Scotland you will go through customs and they will ask you questions just answer them and don't give them any extra information they can refuse to let you into the country i hope I've been a help to you

You are not going to find a big difference between major cities.
Milan...Rome..Florence..Venice

first of all let me get it straigt that THERE is a difference between airports. i ve been living here in florence for the last 4 years and ive gotten to notice the big differences within costs. the top main airports are Milan, Rome and Pisa. They are all intnernational airports and one of the bigest in italy. so the cheapest tickets you can get are from those 3. DO NOT buy direct tickets to Florence airport, its a tiny itty bitty airport, not international and the tickets are more expensive, instead to reach italy, you can either buy tickets to the Pisa airport OR the Bologna airport (which is also international) in which these two airports are about 1 hour away from florence. from myexperience, i recommend you to select the Pisa airport since it has a train from teh airport directly to florence while the bologna airport you have take a bus to the main tran station and then find a train to florence.

the florence airport is only uselful when you are taking domestic flights or flights within europe but not international. however check when you are travelling because ive heard recently that that very airport right now is currently closed since i think they are doing some changes, i dont know when they will be opening again so check.

about the venice airport, its also international, but a bit more expensive than the others.

hope my info helps!

Just call the air port or however you are going to get there and they should tell you everything you need to know.
